SiteGround redesigns its control panel for better user experience

Feb 12, 2009 1 min read Hristo Pandjarov

SiteGround web hosting company recently announced that it is working on a new, customized theme for the control panel of its hosting accounts – cPanel. Driven by the challenge to provide better hosting experience to their customers and make the use of the account management tools even easier and more pleasant, the SiteGround team has dedicated its time and effort in redesigning the control panel “cPanel” default theme and including brand new tools for better account management.

The new theme will be visually divided into 4 sections: Quick Support, Find, Statistics and Account Information. This will make it easier for customers to find the information they need in the blink of an eye. The key feature of Crystal is the statistics section. Siteground customers are provided with detailed Inode, Processes Running, CPU and Executions statistics. Thanks to the graphical representations of the weekly stats customers will be able to monitor closely their account performance, track peaks and troughs, and indicate when their accounts have outgrown the current hosting plan and need an upgrade.

Apart from the Statistics, SiteGround customers will also benefit from the numerous tools for easier account management: direct links for ordering some of the most preferred hosting account upgrades, rich collections of free resources, quick support section, and a tool for checking all applications versions are just part of the innovative improvements SiteGround customers will find in the new cPanel theme.

“Crystal, as we call it here, is a clear and well-arranged theme and at the same time providing all information customers may need in a speedy, convenient and accessible way”, says Nikolay Todorov, Support Team Manager and leader of the project. “It is still in Beta version and a demo is available on our forum so that customers may see its functionalities and give their feedback on our discussion board”, added Nikolay.

Introducing such an innovative approach to control panel usage has once again proved that SiteGround is one of the leaders on the web hosting market. With the new cPanel theme the company again declares to be a provider caring for its customers and ready to always deliver better and improved customer service.

Thanks for the redesign but a lot of basic functionality is missing. For example, roundcube users cannot change their password and must ask admin to do so. This is not convenient.

The functionality that you refer to (Roundcube change password) is not part of cPanel’s core features, not it is part of Site Tools main functionalities. It is an integrated software which is getting older and heavier to use and fewer and fewer people are doing so. We have converted a lightweight version of Roundcube in Site Tools. I will discuss it with the team and we will add the password change to the roadmap.
