How to switch back to Classic Editor after updating to WordPress 5?

WordPress 5 introduces a new block editor (also known as Gutenberg). After the update, the previous editing experience can still be available with the help of the Classic Editor plugin. Most of the SiteGround WordPress 5 users will have this plugin installed as part of the SiteGround auto-upgrade process. However, it can be easily added through your wp-admin, if you do not have it yet.

To have the classic editor as an option, but still use the new block editor as a default experience, you need to choose the following setting in the plugin:

Default editor for all users: Block Editor
Allow users to switch editors: Yes

To have the classic editor as default, but still see the new block editor as an option, you need to choose the following setting in the plugin:

Default editor for all users: Classic Editor
Allow users to switch editors: Yes

To have the classic editor as the only option for your site you need to choose the following setting in the plugin:

Default editor for all users: Classic Editor
Allow users to switch editors: No
