How to enable double opt-in in SiteGround Email Marketing

Double opt-in is a widespread method used in email marketing that greatly improves the quality of your subscriber list and reduces the chance of your campaigns being flagged as spam.

As a fully-fledged service, SiteGround Email Marketing also features double opt-in. Read this guide to learn what double opt-in is and how to employ it.

Double opt-in is an email marketing mechanism that introduces a two-step confirmation process for new subscribers. When new contacts subscribe via a sign-up form, they receive a confirmation email. Only after they confirm their subscription through a confirmation link in the email itself, are they added to your mailing list.

Benefits of double opt-in

The double opt-in feature can be quite beneficial to your marketing operations and bring several advantages:

  • Compliance with regulations – Helps in complying with email marketing regulations like CAN-SPAM Act, which require explicit consent from recipients.
  • Improved email list quality – Ensures that the email addresses collected are valid and that the individuals are genuinely interested in what you offer.
  • Reduced spam complaints – Decreases the likelihood of emails being marked as spam since recipients have actively confirmed their interest.
